During the 15 March School Board meeting, Superintendent Merrill announced the recipient of the District’s first #KamiahCares Community Business Award. Dr. Merrill declared Jacobs Lumber was “almost unanimously” nominated by teachers and staff in appreciation of their ongoing support of our schools and athletic programs and camps. Slade and Kelsey Jacobs received the award, which recognizes local businesses that volunteer service, financial support, and other resources to Kamiah School District schools, programs, or activities.
Dr. Merrill reminded the Trustees of his intention to use the award to recognize community volunteers and supporting businesses in alternating Board Meetings. Recipients will receive a plaque, and their names (or business names) will be added to a cumulative plaque in the District Office. The recognition was tabled during State-mandated public gathering restrictions, but Dr. Merrill is eager to resume the awards at future Board meetings.
