Idaho Governor Increases Spectator Count for School Athletic Events

January 4 Covid-19 Update for Kamiah School District Athletic Events

Hello parents, players, & fans, 

I want to reach out and communicate an update to my earlier communication regarding Governor Little’s Stage 2 plan for Idaho high school athletics. As I mentioned in my earlier letter, a number of Idaho education groups have worked cooperatively with the Governor’s office to draft a set of protocols that would increase the number of spectators allowed at athletic events. 

On December 30th, Governor Little signed an updated order that gave Idaho school district’s the option to increase spectator attendance to 2 spectators per student-athlete for home and away teams. This option requires board approval and signature of assurances that a number of protocols are met including health and safety measures, social distancing, etc. Although not perfect, this is a much-improved plan as compared to the previous protocols of 1 spectator per player.
