November 1, 2020

Dear Kamiah School District parents, staff, and community members: We have learned of one staff member at Kamiah High School and one staff member at Kamiah Middle School who have tested positive for Covid-19. We have also learned of two students at Kamiah High School who have tested positive for Covid-19. While contact tracing possible exposure, Kamiah School officials have identified and notified those in close contact with the positive individual in classrooms or activities. Those families have been notified and are asked to monitor their children for symptoms.

As part of the reopening plan, Kamiah Joint School District Board of Trustees have chosen additional safety precautions to keep schools open. All students and staff at Kamiah Middle School and Kamiah High School will be required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth on November 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th. Students who are unwilling or unable to wear a mask are asked to contact their building principal for other learning options. This option allows our students and staff to return to school and continue meaningful learning while following protective measures.

All students in grades K-12 will continue to be required to wear masks that cover their nose and mouth while on all district transportation until November 5th.

  • Masks Required at Kamiah Middle School and Kamiah High School
  • Masks Required Grades K-12 on all District Transportation

Kamiah School District will continue to clean and disinfect surfaces inside all district schools, buses, and facilities. Additionally, we will continue to monitor all students and staff and encourage anyone who is feeling sick to please stay home.

Sincerely,

Dr. Benjamin Merrill

Superintendent
